“You’re not going to kill me in my sleep are you?.“ “No, I’d want you awake for that.”
Kate Cross' second book in the Clockwork Agent series is a great steampunk adventure! I forgot how much I like this genre.
This book was full of gadgets!
Full of spy intrigue and murder!
Full of manly-men with enhanced hearing and vision
Enter: Claire. She's a spy with 'The Company."
They are enemies with the Wardens. Our story begins with her chasing the man responsible for her brother's death. She's willing to do all she can to bring him to justice. Even if that means, taking one for the team and being fake lovers with our male protagonist, Alastair; The aforementioned manly-man with super hearing and night vision.
It's a engaging read. My only criticism is that Alastair could have used his mechanical body parts a little more in the book. There was a realm of possibilities that did go unexplored in this book. It definitely had a HEA, so I was also happy in the end, and I'm looking forward to the next in the series.
