Maybe not for everyone, but I really enjoyed this book!
I was looking for something new to read; something with a female character in a Dystopian future. The reviews on this site told me that the writing was annoying and characters flawed. The concept sounded really interesting to me, so I checked out a sample and then eventually bought the book.
I think it took a little while to get used to, but I actually liked that the writing style was different. The author does use a lot of metaphors and strike-through text, but I felt that they were used to convey internal thoughts appropriately.
Concept: in a future time, animals and food are scarce. Clouds are the wrong color and people are fighting to survive. Juliette has been locked away by her parents and not spoken to anyone in almost a year. Then one day, she's let out. The entire story is part romance, action, and suspense. The romance between the two main characters is sweet, and complex. There's a lot of baggage on both sides, but the characters are evenly matched and I can completely believe a relationship that has been built up over a course of years, rather than a short love story.
I'm looking forward to a sequel.
